Ashton Eaton stamped a 10.35s run to grab the gold and set a new Olympic record as he edged the old one with a .6 difference in the Heat Three of the 100m Decathlon during the 2012 London Olympics yesterday.
“When you’re in this place, and you’re in this environment, this is what happens,” said Eaton in the post-game interview.

Eaton outran Hardee and Kasyanov in the 3.8th second, successfully taking the first post and sought an advantage.
Canadian decathlete Damian Warner and American Trey Hardee stepped on a deadlock in the 5.9th tick, but Hardee broke free from the tie in the 6.5th second of the race.
Eaton and Hardee stepped on the gas to outrun their international rivals in the 7.6th count, thus tied the pace in the 7.9th.
