USA relay team set new record asthey clocked a 40.82s finish toupend the 27-year reign of the German Democratic Republic’s 41.37s in the Women’s 4x100m relay in the 2012 London Olympics yesterday.

Tianna Madison established an early lead in the 7th second to commence a stable forefront until handing the baton to Carmelita Jeter in the final strike and seize a monumental win.

Allyson Felix extended her gold medal streak after securing an iconic triumph in the relay, being her third stint aside from the 100m dash and 200m sprint in which she also sealed a gold medal respectively.

Madison led the early seconds as she snatched an advantage in the 7th second,  outrunning double 100m gold medalist Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce to sustain momentum throughout the initial lap.

Felix continued the onslaught as she headed the pack in the 20th second after a smooth transition with Madison.

Jamaican bet Sherone Simpson tried to trim down the lead in the 24th mark, but couldn’t keep up with Felix’s undue haste.

Veronica Campbell stole the driver’s seat from Felix in the 26th second, but didn’t last long holding the lead after Felix regained her composure in the 27th second.

Bianca Knight of the American team continuously maintained a stellar run after a switch from Felix to expand the gap between her international rivals in the 33rd second.

Jeter extended their winning run in the 35th second tocushion a 3-meter wide margin between  Jamaica’s Kerron Stewart in the 37th second.

Aiming at the clock, Jeter rushed to the finish line and pointed out the timer signaling that they’re about to break the German record.

Jeter terminated the final lap with a 40.82s score for the gold, while Jamaica hammered 41.41s for silver and Ukraine with 42.04s to settle for bronze.

The American team had an often repeated history of relay failures like the one during the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics where both their men and women relay team had dropped the baton.
